Catching Wind and Catching Shadows – Ecclesiastes 2:11 [Then I looked at all the things I had done and the results of my labor, and I realized that they were all in vain, chasing after wind, and profiting nothing under the sun.] [Story] There was a man who lived next to the train station. Every day when the train passed by the door, his dog would chase the train for three or four miles after barking, and then return to its owner dejectedly. One day, my wife asked, “Our dog What on earth are you doing?” The master replied, “Chasing the train! But I didn’t chase it once.” The wife asked again, “What if I chased it?” The master replied, “It doesn’t matter if I chase it, but it’s still the same. That’s all!” [Thinking] Everyone likes to chase fame and fortune, running all day long. They are exhausted. Even if they get it, so what? You may lose something more precious. The Lord Jesus said: Come to me! You can have eternal life and rest. [Prayer] Dear Heavenly Father God, we in the world are really pathetic. We all desperately pursue the wealth in this world, and even if we get it, it is only temporary. We spend our whole lives earning it, but in the end we can’t. Take it away, everything is vanity! Ask Heavenly Father to open our hearts and accept the hope, peace and joy that You will give us in eternal life. Ask the Lord to enlighten us and pursue an eternal, valuable and meaningful life. Live with joy and hope. Thank You for Your abundant grace. This prayer is in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!
