How to Treat Others – Matthew 7:12 [So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.] [Reflection] Life is like a mirror—when you smile at it, it smiles back at you. When you cry, it reflects your sorrow. The way you treat others often determines how they treat you. Confucius once said, “Do not impose on others what you do not desire for yourself.” Many religions offer similar teachings in a passive form, urging people not to harm others. However, Jesus’ instruction is proactive: He calls us to actively do good for others. It’s not enough to simply refrain from causing harm; we are called to benefit others. For example, it’s not just about avoiding murder—it’s about loving others. Through the Law and the Prophets, God points us to Christ, who is the perfect example of how to treat others. As believers, we are to embody Christ, sharing His love and grace in how we interact with others. The new law of the Kingdom does not contradict the Old Testament laws or the Prophets; rather, it fulfills and supplements them. [Prayer] Dear Heavenly Father, We praise You because Your steadfast love endures forever. Thank You for Your unconditional and selfless love for us. You call us to love You with all our hearts and to love others just as You love us. Holy Spirit, help us to love You more deeply and to extend that love to our family, friends, and neighbors. Teach us to treat others with kindness, generosity, and a joyful heart. May we always wear a smile and maintain a cheerful spirit as a reflection of Your love. In Jesus Christ’s name, we pray. Amen!
