Thinking of Ourselves as Better — Romans 3:9 [What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.] [Explanation] The “we” refers to Gentiles and Jews who do not rely on the law, as Paul includes himself in this group. The “they” refers to Jews who depend on the law. From the perspective of human nature and the universality of sin, no one is better than another; all are equally sinful. Many people believe they are better than others, forgetting that they too are sinners. In moments of quiet reflection, ask the Lord to reveal anything displeasing to Him, anything that disrupts our inner peace. Commit to looking to Him for guidance and making corrections one by one. [Prayer] Dear Heavenly Father, before You, we are all sinners and have fallen short of Your glory. Thank You for Your promise that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us. Please forgive our intentional and unintentional sins, whether big or small, hidden or visible. Help us to truly repent and turn to righteousness, living a life that is a good testimony and consistent with the faith we profess. May our lives glorify Your name. In Jesus Christ’s name, we pray. Amen!
