Faith and Works Together — James 2:21-22 [Was not our ancestor Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith was active along with his works, and faith was made complete by works.] [Interpretation] Abraham was approved by God because of his act of offering Isaac (Genesis 22:16). Being called righteous means that God considered him sinless, a righteous person. “Working together” means complementing each other. Faith and works cannot exist independently; they must cooperate and advance together. Faith without works is dead, and works without faith are also dead. True faith will inevitably bear the fruit of good works, and the fruit of good works must come from genuine faith. Faith and works must coexist and depend on each other. Anyone with faith cannot help but show the effects of that faith in their actions. Any faith that lacks the expression of works cannot be considered mature or complete. [Prayer] Dear Lord Jesus, I pray that Your Holy Spirit will remind us to live out the new heart and spirit You have given us. Guide us to value Your ways and fully observe God’s laws in all things. May Your love strengthen our hearts to strive to do all kinds of good that please You. Lord, how beautiful are Your truth and grace! I earnestly desire to proclaim Your name loudly and not keep Your righteousness hidden in my heart. We pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!
