末底改被抬舉高升, 為後代子孫埋下不安的種子—-以斯帖記11-12, 15[諭旨中, 王准各省各城的猶太人…聚集保護性命, 剪除殺戮滅絕那要攻擊猶大人的一切仇敵和他們的妻子兒女, 奪取他們的財為掠物…末底改穿著藍色, 白色的朝服, 頭戴大金冠冕. 又穿紫色細麻布的外袍, 從王面前出來. 書珊城人民都歡呼快樂. 猶大人有光榮, 歡喜快樂而得尊貴.］末底改的高升與王諭旨的報復殺戮是分不開的. 末底改最大的錯誤是沒有選擇修改王的諭旨律令來保障猶大人的安全, 反而對仇敵執行報復. 報復只會帶來更多的哀號和仇恨, 不會帶來和平, 也無法以暴制暴. 唯一的救贖就是饒恕. 路加福音23:34［當下耶穌説：父親啊, 赦免他們! 因為他們所做的, 他們不曉得.］歷史可以幫助我們反省, 但聖經能幫助我們知道自己的軟弱和有限. 學習寛恕的心需要更大的宗教情操和素養. 今日, 我們的社會暴戾之氣甚重, 寃家宜解不宜結. 這正是教會最好的宣教契機. 讓我們根據神的話語建立一個寛恕, 憐憫的生活環境. 這樣我們才能為子子孫孫留下一個和諧屬靈的社會. 以斯帖最後一章最後一節説末底改”為猶太人求好處, 向他們説和平的話.”十分反諷. 我們需切記馬太福音6:14［你們饒恕人的過犯, 你們的天父也必饒恕你們的過犯.］
